Summer is right around the corner and it’s not to early to plan for a weekend on the river. After all, there’s no place better place to be on a hot day than on top of an inflatable raft with the cool ripple of water underneath.
The upper Wenatchee River near the town of Plain in Washington State is a great place for river rats of all ages, and it makes the perfect getaway for a long weekend.
Start with a group of friends and a big rental cabin
Add a few pickup trucks, some rope and cheap inflatable rafts – the kind found at sporting goods stores work great on the Wenatchee
You can never have too many good looking people on your rafting trip
Climbing into your boat is likely the most effort you’ll expend all day
A pretty typical scene during the 5.5 hours on the river. Typically only one or two people are actually paying attention to where we are going
Lunch Break!
How many people are going to the bathroom at the same time? I count four!
I have been floating the Yakima for years with large groups and was thinking of organizing a similar activity with friends this summer on the Wenatchee. I was wondering about the best places to put in and get out of the river?
I’d appreciate any advice.
Thanks,
Put in at Lake Wenatchee State Park and take out at the new Plain stairway
