We’ve been in the Great Bear Rainforest for a few days now, touring around the village of Bella Coola, which is sort of the main access point for the area. And while we haven’t seen any spirit bears yet, they’ve almost become an afterthought due to the tremendous beauty and recreational opportunities in the area.
Our first few of days were spent cruising the fjords with Bella Coola Grizzly Tours
We pulled up around a hundred saltwater prawns (which looked and tasted like small lobster!).
Here’s a natural hot springs a few steps from the ocean.
Here’s a rather large cedar tree which survived the lumberjacks because it was too big to cut down in the early days of logging.
Near town, we learned about the 6,000 year old petroglyph which tell the story of rebirth, the future and the origin of humankind – brought to the earth riding eye lashes of the sun.
Stay tuned for more adventures from this amazing location!
