The Lake Chelan fires have been in the news a lot lately, and we wanted to give you the view from Osprey Acres in Plain.
Since our valley is a little up the mountain, the prevailing winds typical blow the smoke away from Plain – but there needs to be some kind of breeze for that to happen.
When it’s calm like it was this Sunday, the air turned to downright Beijing-like. Here was our view at around 2:00 in the afternoon.
This is what it normally looks like
On Saturday we tried to go rafting at Lake Wenatchee State Park and it was so windy, the whitecaps were ripping across the lake, so the air was totally fine. Unfortunately for the people in Chelan, those same winds were spreading the fire. Once the wind stopped blowing, the dell behind us filled with an ethereal fog that burned your eyes.
God willing and the creek don’t rise…
