Fall is a busy time in the animal kingdom. September proved to be an exceptionally busy time around Osprey Acres with more bear sightings than we’ve ever recorded in the past plus more daytime mountain lion photos!
Last month we got some exceptional cougar photos. In September it looks like the pair of cats returned (at least we think they’re the same). The first few images are probably the mom cougar, then the juvenile checks out the camera at close range.
Mom and cub play peekaboo on a scratching post tree
This large adult bear visited the scratching post about 4 hours before we checked the camera. This is why we make noise and cary bear spray when camera trapping
Soon after this photo, the bear walked over and “hugged” the tree where our camera was mounted. After 30 frames, our camera was left pointing down at the ground
Thanks to the bear knocking down our camera, this is an accidental shot to show what birds can look like at close range
There’s more than one prize buck in this photo
There’s more than one bear in this photo (don’t be distracted by his laser eyes!)
