Our 200th Post

Leaping into 2020 with our 200th Blog Entry

It’s hard to believe that Married To Adventure officially turns 200 with this post!

This is especially amazing when virtually all new writing blogs last about 4 entries before they die a quiet death.

What started as a way to document Jeff & Amanda’s honeymoon around the world has morphed into a travel/outdoors/adventure/writing workshop/photo gallery/wildlife blog.  In that time we’ve roamed the world, started a family, built a house and fulfilled our promise to always seek new adventures.

Sometimes this site has been a way for Jeff to showcase writing ideas to editors (more than a few entries have turned into paying freelance gigs). Often, entries are written for an audience of one (me) and it’s nice to write about whatever the hell you want.

So happy birthday Married To Adventure!

Here are links to some of our most popular posts over the years.

7 Great Indoor Nerf Gun Games

We had a vacancy in one of our rental units one fall, so we broke out the Nerf guns and invented a bunch of games using the empty apartment as our battleground.  The ideas have been inspiring sweaty pre-teens ever since.

Hike to a Crashed B-17 Bomber in the Olympics

Year over year, this continues to be one of our most popular posts.  This was about a hike we did when Ian was a toddler to a crashed WWII bomber (with bonus mine shafts nearby!).  This led to a travel article in the Seattle Times where it became one of their most read pieces that month.

Rare Fisher Sighting

This was our #1 article in 2019 – about how we picked up a locally endangered Fisher on one of our trail cameras.  Not only did it make the local news but it was a huge deal in WA biology since Fishers haven’t been seen in our area since the 1950’s.

Cabo San Lucas: The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly Americans

A surprise in the Top 10 – this was just a travel piece about our week in Cabo.  Based on key word searches, I think this one was so popular because we mentioned how easy it was to get prescription painkillers in Cabo.  Shows that there are a lot of addicts out there.
